The Elanthian Times
Volume Two, Issue 1 -- March 2000

Dedication

Welcome to the newest installment of the Elanthian times.

Before we start anything, the editors would like to dedicate this issue of the Elanthian Times to one of our friends, who recently passed on. She left us with a legacy of friendship, hope, and many other things. Her talent is easily remembered in the lasting impression she made on this humble newsletter.

For those of you who never met her, rest assured, you have missed a person who was truly special, in any realm. Her passing was a blow to those of us who did know her and we will always miss her.

What follows is a poem, submitted some time ago, that has a new and considerable poignance now, more than ever before.

Lady Galadriel Light, you will always be missed.

Journey's End
by
Alturiak Saine

Long has been the road I've walked.
The forks and turns, at times,
Like things almost alive.

The painful, difficult choices made,
And the horrible and glorious battles fought,
All trials to fortify my will.

Loves won and loves lost,
Friends lost, only to be discovered again,
Reminders of what it is we should truly treasure.

I bear proudly the scars I've won.
Be they the scars on my body, or on my soul.
Trophies of the past, be they good or bad.

The trail dust on my boots,
Grows heavier with each passing day.
And each sunrise brings little hope of rest.

The smoke of each night's trail fire,
Its scent a constant reminder of my wanderings,
Yearning for a hearth in which to burn.

I wander eternally.
A nomad, a vagabond, a traveller.
Wondering and waiting for my journey's end.

For those of us who came before and have since gone.
We will never forget.
